After the storm - Badlands

Badlands National Park in South Dakota after a storm had moved through the area.

Shade Tree - Badlands

Throughout the Badlands of South Dakota, you would have a hard time finding shade. When you do, it is often in the form of a single tree standing tall in the middle of a wind swept field.

Solitude

While exploring Bar Island in Acadia National Park, I noticed this solo house standing out in the distance. I decided to use my Tamron 150-600mm at 600mm to isolate the house.

Swans in Flight

This image was captured at Banner Marsh near Canton, IL. The purple sunrise was the perfect backdrop for these swans in flight.

Yellow in Blue

I was walking through Banner Marsh near Canton Illinois on a late fall morning. The fog was very thick and I was hoping for some wildlife shots. Instead, I was surprised by this little burst of color in what an otherwise very dull scene.

Evening Fog

During a trip to Chapman State Park in Clarendon, PA I found myself walking near the lake during sunset. As the fog started to roll in, I found myself standing there with my camera, and what I thought was the wrong lens. I had my Tamron 150-600mm lens which I typically reserve for wildlife photography on my Canon 5D Mark IV. I ended up using that lens with a very high ISO to capture this mysterious and dramatic image.

Forest Fog

This image was captured at Chapman State Park in Pennsylvania. The sun was quickly setting and I was running out of light. I only had my Tamron Sp 150-600MM f/5-6.3 Di VC USD lens attached to my Canon 5D Mk IV. This is absolutely not a landscape lens. I managed to get this shot as the sun completely dissapeared behind the mountains. This image won 1st place in the 2018 Forest Park Nature Center photo contest for the landscape category.

Stand Out

While hiking at Marilla Reservoir in Bradford, PA during a foggy morning sunrise I noticed this solo tree across the lake. The golden leaves were such a strong contrast against the dark green evergreens.

Dark Reflections

Went looking for wildlife at Banner Marsh (near Canton, IL) and ended up finding this scene. It was a chance taking this image with a super telephoto lens, but it worked out very well. When I look at this image it is both mysterious and somber at the same time.

This image was taken off the southern point of Key West, FL. at Fort Zachary Taylor beach.

Sailing away

This sailboat image was capture in Key West, FL. The crew was enjoying the sunset on hot day.

Steps of Time

While walking near Chillicothe, Illinois, we found these old iron steps that had been overcome by the trees and years of growth. Some of the trees have bricks inside embedded within them.

Winter fishing hole

This was captured at Banner Marsh near Canton, IL. This image is made up of 3x(5 shot exposure) HDR images merged into a single 1:1 panoramic.

Winter Sunset

Captured near Pekin, IL. This image shows the golden sunset setting behind a field of dry tall grass and snow.

Snowy Day

These two trees are usually in the middle of a marsh. However, on this day, Banner Marsh (near Canton, IL) was frozen and the falling snow made for an amazing backdrop and ground cover.
